March, 2007

The time has come to emerge from winter hibernation and get back into the bars and parks and bars and festivals (Did I say "bars" twice? Oh, what a giveaway) and start playing some music again. So check the Calendar page now and often as the days lengthen and become warmer, and stop out and see me sometime. We'll sing something.

RED HAWK at the INDIA-OAK

I just perused the old news pages and I don't think I've mentioned much here about Red Hawk. This is a group of musicians who originally got together a couple years ago to play at Tim and Kat Wheeler's wedding. That turned out to be a hoot, so we try to get out and play a show from time to time. Our next excursion is to the India-Oak Grill in Clintonville on Saturday, April 21. This is a great little neighborhood bar with awesome subs and should be a fun place to set up a PA and play for a while. We've got a couple generations represented in the group, so there's a cool variety of tunes: Beatles, Dylan, Clapton, Neil Young, The Dead, Phish, and a bunch more.

The personnel consists of Ron "Mr. Big" Wheeler on bass guitar, my Lost River Band-mate Scott Langdon, me and Jason Turpening on guitars and vocals, Jovial Flow's Jon Barth on keyboards and vocals, and the lovely and spirited Adrienne Klekotka on vocals and sarcasm. Sorry, I mean, just vocals. And of course there's always the odd harmonica, mandolin or tambourine floating around to keep things interesting.

Hope to see you at the India-Oak!
