Anyway, I'm thinking, "Hell, if we're going to keep doing these Lost River Band shows with any kind of regularity, we really ought to figure out some way to beef the sound up a little bit." For one thing, as I've told many of you before, unless you happen to be the Eagles or Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, there is a practical limit to how many acoustic rhythm guitar players you can put on stage at a time before it starts to get silly. And I have kind of wanted to goof around on the left-handed electric bass guitar ever since the Beatles showed up and I saw how cool Paul looked doing it.

So now, one wild hair and a couple of web sites later, I've got this new bass, the amp just arrived a few minutes ago as I was writing this, and now all I have to do is learn how to play the crazy thing. It will be a lot of fun. I'm not going to give up the regular solo gig by any means, but by summertime I'm hoping that you'll see me on stage with the other guys, too, "laying down a groove," as we veteran bass players like to say.

  • Speaking of the Lost River Band, I'm going to start hosting some pages for that endeavor on this site as well. It's under construction at the moment, but feel free to pop over (click here) to check out some show dates.
  • The Burrow family is well into the planning stages for the 2002 Hoofprint Farm Party, and Jeff is welcoming any and all suggestions for this year's "theme." If you've been to a few of these events, you know what we're talking about here: The theme ends up being on invitations, t-shirts, etc., and generally adds a certain something to the festivities. Send your hog-related theme concepts to Jeff Burrow at this address.
